A Goa destination wedding is usually a beach ceremony at sunset with a party that runs into the night, held between November and February. South Goa is quieter and more upmarket; North Goa is livelier. For 150 guests over three days, expect roughly ₹52.6 lakh–₹1.14 crore (about US$55,000–119,000), with late December the most expensive fortnight.

Goa is India’s best-known beach escape, and its mix of Indian and Portuguese heritage makes it feel familiar to guests from abroad: whitewashed churches, old villas with red-tiled roofs, seafood and sunsets over the Arabian Sea.

Beach weddings here are relaxed by design. Ceremonies start in the late afternoon so the sun sets behind the vows, dinner moves to a lawn or a pool deck, and the music carries on indoors after the outdoor curfew.

Getting your guests to Goa

Goa has two airports: Manohar International at Mopa for North Goa and Dabolim for South Goa, both with flights from the Gulf and one-stop connections from Europe. Many guests route through Mumbai, an hour’s flight away. Resorts are 30 minutes to 90 minutes from either airport.

Time the ceremony so the sun goes down behind you; the light does half the décor.

Direct Gulf flights, hotels at every budget and a holiday mood that starts at the airport.

  • Two cultures already

Goan churches, Hindu temples and a Portuguese past make fusion weddings feel natural.

  • Seafood and sundowners

Goan food and a relaxed bar culture keep the whole weekend easy.

Ceremonies, customs and local rules

Ceremonies

  • Beach ceremonies need the resort’s permission and, for public beaches, the local authority’s; we apply for both.
  • Goan Catholic weddings are held in church, often with a reception at a resort afterwards.
  • Hindu, civil-style and fusion ceremonies are common at beach resorts.

Rules and permissions

  • Outdoor amplified music normally ends at 10 pm; parties move indoors after that.
  • Fireworks need permission and are not allowed at every beach.
  • Late-December weddings need bookings a year ahead.

Goa wedding questions

How much does a destination wedding in Goa cost?

For 150 guests over three days at a 4-star beach resort, expect roughly ₹52.6 lakh–₹1.14 crore (about US$55,000–119,000), including rooms, food, venue, décor, photography, music, guest care and our fee. Christmas and New Year week cost the most.

When is the best time for a beach wedding in Goa?

November to February, when it is dry and the sea is calm. Avoid June to September, when the monsoon makes beach ceremonies impractical.

Do we need permission for a beach wedding in Goa?

Yes. Resorts give permission for their own beachfront, and ceremonies on public beaches need local approval. We apply for both as part of planning.

Which is better for a wedding, North or South Goa?

South Goa is quieter, with larger resorts and cleaner beaches; North Goa is livelier, with more villas and nightlife for guests.

Can foreigners get legally married in Goa?

Goa has its own civil marriage law with residency requirements, so most couples from abroad marry legally at home and hold their ceremony in Goa. We explain both routes on a call.

How late can the party go?

Outdoor music normally stops at 10 pm. Most resorts have an indoor space or a licensed bar where the party continues.
