A destination wedding in India for 150 guests over three days at a 4-star resort typically costs ₹42.4–92.8 lakh (about US$44,000–97,000), depending on the destination, season and style. Rooms and food are usually half the budget. Intimate weddings of 50 guests cost far less, and palace weddings in Rajasthan several times more.

Typical budgets by destination

These ranges come from our pricing models for a 150-guest, three-night wedding at a 4-star property, including rooms, food, venue, décor, photography, music, guest care and a planning fee. They are planning figures, not quotes; use the calculator for your own numbers.

Destination150 guests, 3 nights
Kerala₹42.4–92.8 lakh (about US$44,000–97,000)
Goa₹52.6 lakh–₹1.14 crore (about US$55,000–119,000)
Udaipur₹66.8 lakh–₹1.53 crore (about US$70,000–160,000)
Jaipur₹57.1 lakh–₹1.35 crore (about US$60,000–142,000)
Rishikesh₹39–85.9 lakh (about US$41,000–90,000)
Coorg₹44.2–93.6 lakh (about US$46,000–98,000)

What drives the cost?

  1. Guest count. Every guest adds rooms, meals and transfers. Cutting 30 guests saves more than any décor choice.
  2. Rooms. Destination weddings usually host most guests for two or three nights. The property tier (boutique, 4-star, 5-star, palace) is the biggest single lever.
  3. Food and drink. Priced per guest per function. A Kerala sadya costs far less than a five-star buffet.
  4. Season. Peak months (usually December to February) cost 15–30% more than shoulder months.
  5. Number of functions. Each extra function adds food, décor and venue time.
  6. Décor and production. From simple florals to full stage production.

How can we spend less without it showing?

  • Choose shoulder months such as October, November or March.
  • Hold the mehndi and sangeet at the same venue on consecutive evenings.
  • Let the setting do the work: a lake at sunset needs less décor.
  • Serve a traditional regional feast instead of a hotel buffet.
  • Book a smaller property exclusively instead of a floor of a large one.

Is a wedding in India cheaper than at home?

Usually, for the same standard. Rooms, food and staff cost less in India than in Western Europe, North America or Australia, so many couples host a three-day celebration for the budget of a single day at home. Flights are the main cost for guests; most of our couples help with rooms instead.
