How it works
Type both first names, and optionally the surname you will share and the year. The generator puts Punjabi patterns first, built on Viah, Shaadi, Anand Karaj, Jaggo, Bhangra, then adds the classic name blends. For Simran and Arjun, it suggests #SimranArjunDaViah, #SimranDiArjun, #ArjunDaSimran and more. Check a hashtag on Instagram before you print it.

Punjabi wedding hashtags lean on the words everyone will be shouting anyway. “Viah” is the Punjabi word for wedding and sits naturally after two names; “da” and “di” are the possessives, so #AnnaDaViah reads as “Anna’s wedding”. Sikh families often use Anand Karaj, the name of the ceremony itself.
Because Punjabi weddings run for days, with the jaggo, the mehndi, the sangeet and the baraat, many couples pick one hashtag for the whole week and add a function word for each night: #JaggoAnnaRahul on the jaggo, #AnnaRahulDaViah on the day.
The words
- Viah
- wedding
- Shaadi
- wedding (Hindi and Punjabi)
- Anand Karaj
- the Sikh wedding ceremony, “blissful union”
- Jaggo
- the night of singing and dancing before the wedding
- Bhangra
- the dance
Examples for Simran and Arjun
- #SimranArjunDaViah
- #SimranDiArjun
- #ArjunDaSimran
- #SimranArjunKiShaadi
- #JaggoSimranArjun
- #BhangraSimranArjun27
- #SimranArjunAnandKaraj
- #BalleSimranArjun
Tips
- Keep “Da” and “Di” capitalised so the hashtag reads as words, not a jumble.
- If one family is Sikh, check whether they would rather see Anand Karaj than Shaadi.
- Search the hashtag on Instagram first: short name blends are often taken.

Questions couples ask
What is the Punjabi word for wedding in a hashtag?
“Viah” (also spelt viyah or vyah). #AnnaRahulDaViah means “Anna and Rahul’s wedding”. Shaadi, the Hindi word, is just as common in Punjabi families.
Should a Sikh wedding hashtag say Anand Karaj?
Many couples use it for the ceremony day and a lighter hashtag for the parties. Ask both families; it is their ceremony too.
How do I make a Punjabi hashtag unique?
Add the year or the city, or use a surname pattern such as #ViahSandhu2027. Check it on Instagram before printing it.
